Everyone knows that exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Knowing that exercise is good for you and actually participating in some form of exercise are two very different things.
When you are busy with family concerns, work and all of social obligations that make life so hectic, it is easy to relegate exercise to your “would do if I have time” list. This is a very dangerous road to take in life because exercise not only makes you healthier, possibly extending your life, it can even improve the quality of your life.
It is essential to find a way to fit fitness into your daily schedule. This doesn’t mean that you have to get up at 5 am to take a jog around the block or make it to your local gym before work. It does mean that you have to find creative ways to fit exercise into your life.
A few ways to fit exercise into your life are pretty simple. The easiest way to increase the amount of exercise you do on a daily basis is to walk more. Don’t spend ten minutes circling the mall parking lot looking for the closest space. Simply park at the back of the lot and get some exercise walking to the store. If you have a choice between taking stairs or an elevator, choose the stairs and add a bit of aerobic workout to your day. Dust off the old exercise bike or elliptical trainer and use it while you watch TV. Spend some time in your yard, throwing a ball around with your kids or chasing them as they totter on a bike. Just spending a little time playing around outside can burn quite a few calories.
If you are looking for a more traditional way to get fit, but you don’t have time to spend hours at the gym, try hydraulic strength training. Strength training is one of the fastest ways to work out and see amazing results. Just by participating in strength training exercises for a ½ hour, twice a week, you can increase your metabolism, tone up your muscles, and lose body fat.
Fitness can fit into your schedule if you make an effort to make fitness a normal part of your everyday lifestyle.
